Scarlett came to Sioux Falls Canine Rescue after being released from a commercial breeding facility.

Scarlett would do best in a home with another small breed dog but no large breed dogs as she gets quite nervous around them.

Scarlett is cautious around people (especially strangers) so she will need a patient family that will continue to help her come out of her shell. She is a perfect little lap dog and really enjoys being snuggled up with her foster mom.

Scarlett should go to an adult only home or a home with respectful children 10 years of age or older.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe - no exceptions.
  • Small breed resident dog that can continue to teach Scarlett how to be a dog - no large breed dogs.
  • No children under the age of 10.

Scarlett has been spayed and received a dental cleaning, she is up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, heartworm & tick tested, and microchipped. Scarlett weighs 11 pounds, and her adoption fee is $600 plus tax.

More about Scarlett

Good with Some Dogs (No large dogs), Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Requires a yard

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
