Murphy is a very sweet little cavalier that came to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility.

Murphy came to rescue with severe dental disease - he went in for his dental and ended up needing to have 14 teeth extracted. His canine tooth on the bottom right was so severely abscessed and infected that it caused a pathological fracture in his jaw :( 

After antibiotics and a soft diet for several months, we are pleased to say that Murphy's jaw has healed completely and he has been cleared medically.

Murphy loves to be with his foster mom and usually napping at her feet while she works. He does well with the other dogs but thinks he needs to bark at and chase the cat. He is such a sweet boy and will make someone an excellent companion.

 

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard to keep him safe when outdoors - no exceptions.
  • Murphy is timid and skittish, he needs a family children ages 10 and up.
  • Murphy would love a confident resident dog but it is not required.

Murphy has been neutered and received an extensive dental while in rescue. He tested negative for heartworm & tick borne diseases, is current on vaccinations and monthly preventatives, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $500 plus tax.

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
