**Ivy will be available after she has recovered from her spay/dental surgery scheduled the week of 9/26/2022**

Ivy is a gorgeous 6 year old golden retriever who made her way to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility.

Ivy arrived to rescue extremely shut down and terrified of the world (and people) around her. She has made good progress while in foster care but has a ways to go and will require a very patient (and calm) family willing to give her the time she needs.

Ivy is terrified of being placed on a leash - she has been working on desensitization but it will be a very slow and delicate process - a physically fenced in yard is a hard adoption requirement. Ivy also has immature cataracts in her eyes and will likely be seeing a veterinary ophthalmologist for a consult.

Ivy is crate trained and views her crate as a very safe and comfortable space.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard - Ivy is a breeder release dog and not familiar with or comfortable walking on a harness/leash. She is also a flight risk and requires a physical fence for her safety. No exceptions.
  • Confident (similar sized) resident dog to continue to help teach Ivy how to "dog". No exceptions.
  • Patient family willing to continue to work on confidence building, basic obedience, and housetraining.
  • Home with older, dog savvy kids only (ages 10 & up).

Ivy has been spayed and received a dental cleaning, tested negative for heartworm & tick borne diseases, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500 plus tax.
