Penelope is a darling little Aussie who made her way to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility. She was very shut down and terrified when she first arrived to foster care and requires a very calm, special touch. Penelope is a very sweet dog, she just needs a little extra time and patience when warming up to new people and environments.

Penelope is crate trained and finds great comfort in having a crate available to her. She has not had a single accident and seems to have the housetraining very well mastered.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard - Penelope is a breeder release dog and no familiar or comfortable walking on a harness/leash. She is also a flight risk and a fenced yard is required for her safety.
  • Confident resident dog preferred.
  • Quieter home with dog savvy kids (ages 12 and up)
  • Patient family willing to give Penelope adequate time to adjust, settle in, and bond.

Penelope has been spayed and received a dental cleaning. She is current on vaccinations, monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $450 plus tax.

More about Penelope

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Timid

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
