Rocky is a very handsome Golden Retriever - he arrived to SFCR last October after being released/retired from a commercial breeding facility.

He was extremely shut down and terrified of the world around him. He has made incredible progress with his foster family but will need a very special family willing to continue to help him build confidence.

The confident, senior golden retriever in Rocky's foster home has helped tremendously with his rehabilitation and confidence building. Rocky absolutely must go to a home with a confident resident dog, ideally another golden retriever or large breed.

Rocky's tail is a bit shorter than normal due to an injury that occurred when he was younger. It doesn't bother him and he can wag it just as well :)

Leash walking has been a work in progress but he can do it! Rocky is still nervous about having the leash put on but once he gets outside with the other dogs, he does quite well. Rocky is not comfortable going to the bathroom while leashed and is considered a flight risk. He must go to a home with a physically fenced in yard. 

Rocky has done so well with housetraining and has had very few accidents. He does fine in a crate but has been allowed to be out while his foster family is away. He is used to sleeping on the bedroom floor at night. He loves toys! But needs durable ones as he will destroy them... and quickly ;)

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

• Physically fenced in yard - no exceptions.
• Confident, similar sized resident dog.
• Rocky needs a home without small children as they make him very nervous. 

Rocky has been neutered and received a dental cleaning with a couple extractions. He tested negative for heartworm, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, dewormed, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400 plus tax.
