Sugar originally came to SFCR as a breeder release. She was adopted but recently returned to the rescue due to jealousy of the resident dog. She is a sweet little dog who is still learning how to accept love from humans. Sugar will need a very special family with a very gentle touch and lots of patience. Once in your lap, she is happy to sit with you and can be a great little lap dog. Sugar has figured out that toys can be fun and really enjoys plush ones that squeak. She has done very well with housetraining and has very few accidents as long as she is kept on a consistent schedule. She is crate trained and will seek out her crate on her own as it is a very safe place for her.
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:
Sugar has been spayed and had a dental with a few minor extractions. She is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400 plus tax. More about SugarGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids, Cratetrained, Likes to play with toys, Timid, Skittish *All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
