9/5/24 Update: Leah had her balloon valvuloplasty heart procedure on 8/1/24 and is doing extraordinarily well! Dr. George is very pleased with the results and her pulmonic stenosis is now measuring mild instead of severe. Her gradient is currently measuring 66% better which is awesome.

Leah will continue taking her Atenolol and will see Dr. George in November for a 3 month follow-up echocardiogram. We will have a more definitive idea of how successful her procedure truly was at that time. We are very hopeful and so appreciative of Leah's sponsors who helped make this possible for her!

Sweet little Leah arrived to SFCR with a grade 5/6 heart murmur due to pulmonic stenosis.

She is in need of a life-saving procedure called a balloon valvuloplasty performed by a veterinary cardiologist. We are in need of sponsorship donations to help cover the expense of approximately $5,000.00.

This procedure has the potential to change Leah's life and allow her to live a somewhat normal life.

It would mean the world to little Leah if you would consider a donation towards her much needed and deserved medical care!

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received minimal socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience.
