Mavis is a beautiful little Cockapoo in search of her forever family.

Mavis came to us from a very unfortunate breeding situation. She has been working hard to build confidence and learn to trust but it has been a slow process.

Mavis' ears were completely swollen shut from years of infection that was never tended to. The infection has been treated but her ears are still a bit swollen and will likely remain that way. She has been started on a medicated ear flush that we use 2-3 times a week to keep infection at bay.

Mavis is working hard on her housetraining and doing pretty well. She loves the other dogs in her foster home and gets along well with everyone.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe - no invisible fences.
  • Confident resident dog to help show Mavis the ropes and teach her what being a dog is all about.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids, Timid, Skittish

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
