Josie is a very special little cavalier in search of her forever family. She arrived to rescue with a horrible uterine infection (pyometra) and had emergency spay surgery. She is feeling so much better now and will be available after she goes in for her very much needed dental. Josie does have a grade III-IV heart murmur with mild heart enlargement. She has been started on a heart medication (Vetmedin) and will need this medication lifelong. She will need a family willing and able to provide her ongoing cardio care.

More about JosieGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Likes to play with toys, Affectionate, Gentle *All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
