Oakley came to us from a local shelter, he was attacked by a larger dog at the dog park while with his previous care taker. The attack resulted in Oakley breaking one of his toes. With the help of a splint and an anti-inflammatory medication, Oakley will be feeling much better in no time. Oakley is a such a gentleman and greets everyone he meets with tail wags and puppy kisses. He will make someone a very special companion.
*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.
Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
