Hiya! My name is Benny! I'm a super sweet 1 year old male havanese. I made my way to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility. I'm quite skittish, especially when meeting new people but I'm working really hard to build my confidence. I sure am loving this brand new life of mine!

I have been working really hard on my housetraining but it is still a work in progress. I do wear a belly band to help keep me accountable inside. I am crate trained and used to sleeping in my crate at night.

I REALLY like the other dogs in my foster home and they help me feel so much more confident. I love to run and play outside with the other pups in my foster home.

I had my teeth cleaned when I was under for my neuter surgery. Foster mom says it is likely that I will need regular dental cleanings throughout my life as I already had heavy tartar on my teeth at just 1 year old!

 

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard - Benny is a breeder release dog and not familiar with walking on a harness/leash, he is also a flight risk and needs a fence for his safety.
  • Confident resident dog preferred.
  • Patient family willing to continue to work on confidence building, basic obedience, and housetraining. 
  • Home with dog savvy kids (ages 8 & up)

Benny has been neutered and received a dental cleaning while in rescue. He tested negative for heartworm & tick borne diseases, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $600 plus tax.

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
