Cavalier King Charles Spaniel : : Female (spayed) : : Senior : : Small
I would love you more than you can imagine.
Mabel is a super sweet breeder release girl. She came to SFCR with her friend Whitley, and they love each other very much. We would love for them to be adopted together but it is not a requirement as long as each of them go to a home with another dog.
Mabel has a grade 4/6 heart murmur - she was seen by Dr. George (cardiologist) at AERC MN for a full heart workup. Mabel has mitral valve disease, commonly seen in cavaliers. She does have mild-moderate heart enlargement but no signs of heart failure at this time. She was started on a medication called Vetmedin to help with heart function. This medication costs around $150 per month and is something Mabel will require lifelong.
This disease generally progresses over months/years and will need to be monitored closely with chest radiographs every 3-6 months and ideally yearly follow-ups with Dr. George.
Mabel is doing well with housetraining. She has decided that toys are pretty fun and is not always very good about sharing them with the other dogs.
Mabel is a very affectionate and loving dog. She loves toys, treats, and is often found lounging in a dog bed next to her friend, Whitley.
Mabel was spayed and also had a dental with extractions. She tested negative for heartworm & tick-borne disease, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300 plus tax.
