"Meet our very own Shotgun Willie!" This gentle "little" giant has a heart of gold and is known for his calm and serene demeanor. While he enjoys spending time outside in the garden, he takes extra care, ensuring he sniffs every weed, and sometimes twice. Willie  is a great listener and is learning so many new words like come, sit, stay, and outside. When he's not busy napping after exploring his new world or expanding his vocabulary, as a "Toothless dog" you can find him gumming a soft chew toy (Kong, Frisco, Nylabone), or enjoying a healthy snack at the Lick Mat or Woof Party Pupsicle smeared or filled with plain Greek yogurt and canned pumpkin, or dog friendly peanut butter and plain, unsweetened applesauce (...simply scrumptious). He'd have you know that he's the most laid-back, easy-going dog on the entire planet and is the perfect blend of independence and loyalty, making him a wonderful companion for just about any family!

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard to keep him safe.
  • Willie would do best with a resident dog to help boost his confidence and show him the ropes.

More about Willie

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Cratetrained

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
